Couch to 5k Complete

I finished it! Managed the 5K run, not easy. Not managed 3 runs a week since, 1 or 2 mainly. But that’s fine by me. I’m not sure I want a next goal, more of a settling into habit.

I have wanted to go for for a run at least, and have been more inclined to vary the route, to do some hills (which I struggle on) — whereas C25K made me want to just run flat. At least with the lack of a target, or a dictated regime, I’m inclined to inclines. It means I’ve been exploring areas I’ve taken the dog through on runs.

I realise it also means I keep seeing photographs to make. Unconciously using it as scouting opportunities too. I don’t want this to be an aim though. I prefer the enjoyment of the run to be an aim. Whilst I may not always enjoy it in the moment I admit, I have often enjoyed having run in those cases.

I had thought it various things like Bridge to 10K but not sure I am interested in that, we’ll see how I feel in a few months time. At least at the moment I’m more tempted to increasing difficulty than distance. There’s no shortage of hills, fells and moors near by to try that approach on. Mainly I think I don’t want to be so defeated by small slopes (both up and down — but obviously up is harder work, down is tricky).

The plan

  • Run a couple of times a week
  • Vary the route/distance
  • Get better at it
  • Enjoy it!

Not much of a plan it has to be said, but I think any more at the moment is going to be optimstic. Just need to make sure the first point is kept up, to continue building the habit.
