My Mini Photo Gallery

As follow on to talking about Film Developing, Scanning and Printing I thought I’d talk about the mini gallery and other displays I’ve had going for at least a year now, which is the main driver to print the non-family related photos.

The mini gallery is the side of a cupboard, that has a load of small prints blu-tacked to it. There’s no particular order, and no major planning. The idea is as follows:

  • Print out a few photos from every set I make.
  • Stick them up and let them sit there for a while.
  • Remove any I don’t like, and let the others stay as I add more.
  • Every few months make a second better/larger fine” print from those that are still up.

Before starting this post I’d been lax and hadn’t added any new ones to it for a while. As I was writing this I’ve remedied that, and added a few more. So it currently looks like:

Current Gallery

I’ve also only ever made one larger print:

large Print

I’m intending to remedy that too soon, and will be organising the printing of something else. I’m going to let the current mini-gallery sit for a few weeks before deciding what this should be. This will require a re-scan of the negative, which means I’ll have to find it, then I’ll edit, and make it look how I want. The printing will likely be by Harman Labs, not the cheapest but their LightJet is as close to a traditional print as I can get at the moment.

I’ll sahre a photo of it once it’s made, and try and explain why I chose it.
