An Introduction

I guess this is the point where I lay down the aims of this blog. I’m planning a place to hold my ramblings about things I’m learning about. As the name suggest, I think an aim in life is to be always learning. Rather than pidgeon hole a blog into one area I’m going to cover anything and everything that takes my fancy.

Currently the items you could classify me as being in some way currently learning are:

  • Photography (mainly film, and as I’ve a large format camera arriving soon, I’ll defiantely cover that journey)
  • Poetry (As well as reading poetry I’ve been reading through Stephen Fry’s The Ode Less Travelled” and following his exercises)
  • Running (having never really tried, preferring other endevours I decided that it was time to be able to run at least a reasonable distance, something I have always thought I should do. I may not be fast, but that’s not the point of this one)
  • Blogging (a little recursive perhaps, but true)
  • General random things I pickup books (or web-trails) about (I have a habit of going in for one book and coming out with many, which I generally will read, in time)

And some things that I’ve got in the back of my mind to pursue at some point:

  • Music (I used to play guitar, but I think I’m considering piano)
  • Dark Room printing (no darkroom, not sure where I can fit one (or use as one), or if there’s one nearby, but it’s an aim)
  • Drawing (I started working through Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” but had to return it to the library, so need to buy a copy or borrow again)
  • Gardening (my wife signed us up for an allotment, so that might appear at some point)
  • Sewing (mainly as I struggle with clothes in this era of skinny fit)
  • Shoe making (again, wide feet do not make these easy to find)
  • Brewing (I’ve done a little in the past, but not for a while)
  • Wine making (both grape based, but also country wines are interesting)
  • Cider Making (to continue the theme)
  • Crochet (something I can do, but don’t very often, so have to re-learn everytime)
  • Movie Making (maybe film, maybe not to start with)
  • Writing (fiction but also essays: perhaps more formal than blogging)

As you may be able to tell, this may not all fit in at once, so there may be more of a linear pursuit of items, rather than too much parallelism, but we will see how it shapes up over time. Plus I suppose to add to all that I’m continually reading, exploring and trying to think about new things, even if they don’t progress to active participation, which will shift that list and add/remove items as I delve a little deeper and either continue or back off.

A Series of Introductions (Blogging) I thought there was some more detail to be added, after the introduction about what I was going to do at least short term. I’m intending a rough
