The Ode Less Travelled Chapter 2, Rhyme
Chapter 2 is all about Rhyme. Shorter than Chapter 1 it gives an overview of the types of rhyme (more than I realised) as well as the usages. It also goes into good and bad rhyme.
It definately made me appreciate that poems I didn’t think had rhyme in them had types I didn’t know about. Or may have intentioianlly had none. The differences between good and bad were, I suppose, partly of a subjective nature. That said the missue of “hackneyed rhyme” is ess subjective.
The exercise at the end was good, if hard in it’s own way. It involves coming up with rhymes (unsurprisingly). The tricky part is the volume, and not getting stuck with the simple, the obvious and the simpler types of rhyme.
Like the chapter this update will be relatively short. My poety education continues, I’ve not being as diligent at working through the book of late, with other things interfearing, but I intend to carry on when I can.
